After hours in the roof, measuring, drilling, cutting, and mounting brackets, splicing cable, etc, I've finally got the rears up (and man, did I run out of patience by the end)! I noticed just before putting them up that the single speaker (for SBack) has a slight chamfer on the grille and a solid jarrah back (the others have a matte black finish on the back). I know it's a slight change but it makes it look like it's supposed to be in the centre :) Just gotta make sure I don't bash my head on one of them when I jump on the computer!

They're here! I picked the speakers up this afternoon and set up the front three which go pretty well. I also grabbed some Wacky brackets and 50 metres of cable for the rears. I'll set those up on the weekend. Pictures will be up soon...

Got a Set-Top Box with HDD today. Looks pretty good, but better once the channels start sending their TV Guides :) Easy to record/playback but only thing that's missing is being able to rename recordings after you've recorded them.

Ordered 6 Krix Loudspeakers. Again, these are Australian made speakers :) The front soundstage is made of the KDX system (KDX-M for LR & KDX-C for centre) with the 3 rears being Brix Mk3. All models are going to have a Jarrah finish so they should look pretty sweet. Come back next week when I set them up ;)

Bought Receiver. Marantz SR4300 which has some nice features inc. DD-EX and DTS-ES (both being 6.1ch surround modes). One of the problems remaining is, that I'm still using my parents 5 speakers from the old Home Theatre in a Box. This means; a. the speakers can't handle much (although the receiver does a great job at making them sound as clear as possible) and b. there is no rear centre channel :(

Bought Sonique Subwoofer. This came about quite unexpectedly. One Sunday I was bored and went searching for subs but quickly found that anything less than a grand just didn't deliver. Then I remembered the store I'd been to once before and gave them a visit. I ended up getting the Thunderbox 1200 from them (made by the South Australian company Sonique).

Bought DVD Player. This was around the time I saw my friend's parent's Home Theatre, which was 5.1ch DD/DTS. Wow. This is where I saw DVD for the first time and decided I had to get it :)

Around 1997
My parents bought an RCA Home Theatre in a Box. It contained 5 speakers and a receiver running Dolby Pro Logic. Independence Day sounded amazing (or as I thought at the time), especially the scene where he shoots the can off the ship and the bullets bounce around the room!

Before 1997
Learned to love movies. I bought myself a 34cm TV with my pocket money (pinned the ad up on the wall for months) and taped movies off the TV, even cutting out the ads. That's probably where it all started.
